Quality Childcare and Early Years Education in Stamford

A Nurturing Nursery Created by Parents, for Parents

Founded by parents, for parents, The Little Lane Nursery was created with a simple mission: to provide the warm, welcoming environment we wanted for our own children. We understand the importance of choosing the right childcare provider, having stood in those same shoes ourselves. With settings in the heart of Stamford town centre and the peaceful village of Easton on the Hill, we offer a nurturing, home-from-home environment designed to support every child’s development through fun, exploration and care. We are committed to making every family feel valued, supported and at ease.

Our Aims & Objectives

At The Little Lane Nursery, our aim is to provide a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported and inspired to learn. We encourage independence, confidence and respect for others, while promoting healthy lifestyles, real-life experiences and strong partnerships with families. Through high-quality care, continuous improvement and a dedicated team, we help every child flourish and reach their full potential.

Promoting and Teaching British Values

British Values

The DfE has reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.” The government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values continue to underpin expectations for all schools and early years settings today. At The Little Lane Nursery, these values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways:

Little Lane Transport

Out & About

It's part of the Little Lane ethos that we want our children to get out and explore! We love taking the children on mini-excursions to discover the local area whether it's a trip to the travel agent to collect brochures for role play, riding down to the meadows for picnics and feeding the ducks, or a morning walk to Burghley. To make all these adventures possible, we've invested in a wonderful variety of transport!

At our Stamford setting, our little explorers zoom around in multiple quad early years strollers, double strollers and our trusty Walkodile, keeping everyone safe and giggling along the way. At our Easton on the Hill setting, alongside our quad strollers and double pushchairs, we're lucky enough to have our very own 6-seater Winther Turtle Kiddy Bus a firm favourite for taking groups of little adventurers out on exciting outings!

All our strollers and the Turtle Kiddy Bus come complete with sun shades and rain canopies, so we're prepared for whatever the day throws at us! We also carry out regular risk assessments, so families can feel completely confident in how we get out and about exploring the local area.

Our Minibus

The Little Lane Nursery has invested in our very own minibus an 9-seater VW Transporter Shuttle (you won't miss us in our flowery branding as we whizz around town!). We have a mixture of car seats to suit each child's age and stage, and off we go with 6 children and 2 members of staff for every adventure!

Having our very own minibus means we have the freedom to hop to and from outdoor learning and forest school whenever we fancy it! We now run our forest school and outdoor learning sessions 3 days a week, giving lots of our preschoolers the chance to enjoy this brilliant hands-on experience. On occasion, our younger nursery children get in on the fun too, with special little outings of their own!

We also love planning exciting trips based on our weekly themes from meeting the animals at Sacrewell Farm, to splashing about on the beach at Rutland Water, strawberry picking, pumpkin picking, and visiting the Christmas tree farm... the list goes on!

Meet Our Friendly Animals

We are very lucky to have a variety of pets at the Little Lane Nursery, you will often see Alfie the sausage dog, as well as our resident rabbit, Flossy.  In 2021, we also welcome two new sausage dogs to our Little Lane family - Fred and Barney - who you will see around nursery.

Flossy is able to stay with nursery children at weekends - to book a weekend with Flossy, simply complete the booking request using this link below.

Every year we have an incubator and hatching eggs from Living Eggs, the children are able to watch the eggs hatch and take care of the chicks. Last year we hatched 10 chicks that have gone to live at our outdoor learning site, where the children can continue to look after them.

The educational value of a resident pet in developing an understanding of nature and respect for the environment is enormous without considering the fact that they are a great tool for a child’s personal development and provide endless fun and entertainment. In addition, we have also found having a pet can help to settle children much quicker into nursery.
